Plenary raises funds in the fight against cancer
Published 26 June 2016MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA: The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) has opened its doors for a special evening to raise money for Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation.
Plenary Group hosted a special dinner in the welcome hall of the soon-to-be-completed centre, providing a special preview of the building while raising funds for a worthy cause.
Victorian Minister for Health Jill Hennessy and former Premier of Victoria John Brumby joined more than 200 guests for a sneak-peek of the centre a month before it opens to patients and staff.
Plenary donated all proceeds from the evening, raising more than $90,000 for Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation.
Plenary Group Chairman John O’Rourke recognised the strong relationship between the Plenary Health consortium and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
“After many years of planning, and after four-and-a-half years of construction, we are ready to open the VCCC next month,” Mr O’Rourke said.
“We are proud to be delivering this magnificent centre on-time and on-budget. And with more than 1.1 million Australians living today with a cancer diagnosis, including 256,000 Victorians, a facility like this has never been more important.”
Plenary is the project sponsor, investor and financial arranger for the $1 billion centre that will soon become the new home of Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and new cancer research and clinical services for Melbourne Health and the University of Melbourne.
Plenary led the Plenary Health consortium that was contracted to finance, design and build the VCCC, and is now contracted to manage the facility under a 25-year concession.
