VCCC up in lights with new sky signs
Published 10 November 2015MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) will soon be up in lights with the commissioning of illuminated ‘sky signs’ nearing completion.
Two 30-metre-long sky signs were installed during October on the north and east elevations of the VCCC and are ready to be permanently switched on as this landmark project nears completion in mid-2016.
The locally-sourced signs include LED lights to provide a low-power, long-service option to illuminating the VCCC for many years.
Grocon PCL Façade Manager Aaron Burke – who has been working on the VCCC’s façade for more than two years – said the signs were befitting of such an iconic building.
“Installing signage is not in itself a complex task, but to do it on the fourteenth floor of a hospital still under construction created its own challenges,” Aaron said.
“Coordinating the team to access the roof of a working construction site, and to get the job done safely and on time has been pleasing.
“We are rapt with the finished product and look forward to having them turned on at night time for all to see.”
