New Defence accommodation facilities for Canberra’s ADFA and RMC Duntroon

• Two new Defence accommodation facilities for Canberra with combined valued of  $28 million, delivered as part of the $900 million nation-wide project, Single Living Environment and Accommodation Precinct 2 (Single LEAP 2) public private partnership (PPP)
• Construction of Canberra sites created approximately 140 full-time equivalent jobs, 95% of trades sourced locally
• Single LEAP 2 PPP set for completion next month on time and on budget
• Plenary/Watpac/Compass Group success set to continue with Queensland Schools PPP

CANBERRA, ACT – Plenary Living is now just one site off completing construction on its $900 million Single Living Environment and Accommodation Precinct 2 (Single LEAP 2) Defence accommodation project following the recent delivery of new facilities at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) and the Royal Military College (RMC) Duntroon.

Plenary Director Ray Wilson said the ADFA and RMC Duntroon sites in Canberra had been completed on time and on budget and combined were valued at approximately $28 million.

“We’re proud to mark the on time and on budget delivery of our Single LEAP 2 sites at these significant bases for Defence,” Mr Wilson said.

Plenary Group, together with building partner Watpac and facilities manager Compass Group, has delivered and commissioned a total of 113 single living accommodation units across the two sites.

Other facilities include car parking and outdoor communal BBQ areas.

“Watpac is to be congratulated for its outstanding work on the Single LEAP 2 project and we look forward to partnering with them and Compass Group on the delivery of 10 new schools for the Queensland Government,” said Mr Wilson.

Delivered as a public private partnership (PPP) with the Department of Defence, Plenary Living, through Compass Group, is now responsible for the ongoing management of these Single LEAP 2 sites and the 14 others already operational across Australia.

“We now look towards achieving Commercial Acceptance and transitioning into operations our final Single LEAP 2 site at Robertson Barracks in the Northern Territory in February, marking what will be Plenary Living’s on time and on budget delivery of the Single LEAP 2 project,” Mr Wilson said.

Construction of the two Single LEAP 2 sites in Canberra created around 140 full-time equivalent construction jobs, with approximately 95% of trades used on site sourced locally.

The Single Living Environment and Accommodation Precinct 2 (Single LEAP 2)  public private partnership (PPP) involves the delivery of over 3,000 single living units at 17 sites across 14 military bases in every Australian mainland state and territory.

Plenary Living has transitioned 16 of the 17 Single LEAP 2 sites into operations.

Plenary Living has teamed up with a consortium of talented local builders to deliver the Single LEAP 2 sites. Watpac has built five of them.

Watpac’s other Single LEAP 2 sites include 542 units at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, 201 units at the Puckapunyal Military Area and 120 units at Simpson Barracks just outside of Melbourne.
