Gold Coast Light Rail up and running

GOLD COAST, QUEENSLAND – Plenary Group is pleased to mark the commencement of operations of the $1 billion Gold Coast light rail system, with the paid passenger service starting today.  

The Queensland Government and the GoldlinQ consortium celebrated the milestone with a free public open day yesterday.

Plenary Group Managing Director Paul Oppenheim attended the celebrations yesterday and was pleased to see the Gold Coast commuters out and about experiencing the much-antipcated light rail system.

“This is an incredibly exciting milestone for the Gold Coast community,” Mr Oppenheim said.

“We’re pleased to have had such a significant hand in the delivery of this fantastic project, designed to support the future development of the Gold Coast and improve connectivity between major activity centres in the area.”

The new ‘G:’ light rail system runs from the Gold Coast University Hospital and Griffith University to the fast growing commercial, retail and recreational centres of Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.

Plenary Group is part of the GoldLinQ Consortium selected by the Queensland Government to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the light rail system, and is the equity investor and financial arranger for the project.
