Plenary shortlisted to bid on Long Beach Civic Centre

LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA – Plenary-Edgemoor Civic Partners has been shortlisted to bid the new Long Beach Civic Centre in California.

Plenary-Edgemoor Civic Partners is a partnership of Plenary Group USA (through Plenary Properties), Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate, Clark Construction, Johnson Controls, Skidmore Owings & Merrill and DeLaRosa & Co.

The 30-year design-build-finance-operate-maintain contract will include:

  • a new City Hall that reflects the stature of Long Beach as one of California’s largest cities,
  • a potential Port of Long Beach Headquarters building that reflects its position as a critical component of the US transportation infrastructure and economy,
  • Lincoln Park as a historic community asset and town square,
  • a new Main Library, and
  • commercial development opportunities to reduce the city’s costs and energize the site.

The Plenary-Edgemoor team brings and unparalleled understanding of the local community and project stakeholders, as well as the vision for this site.

In order to implement this vision, the team has partnered with prominent Long Beach-based firms, like Kelly Sutherlin McLeod Architecture, Bennitt Design Group, and P2S Engineering, Inc., all of which understand the context and history of the project, as well as its importance to the renewal and growth of the community.

The two other shortlisted bidders are Long Beach CivicCore Alliance, led by Macquarie, and Related California.

The RFP is expected early in 2014.
