MCEC joins Open House Melbourne for a second year

MELBOURNE, VICTORIA - Melburnians will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) when it opens its doors to the public for Open House Melbourne this Sunday 28 July.

Visitors of this year’s Open House Melbourne will learn about MCEC’s fascinating design with tours led by Woods Bagot and NH Architecture, joint venture designers of the Convention Centre, one of Plenary Group’s signature projects.

This informative tour will demonstrate why the MCEC been awarded some of Australia’s top awards including the National Award for Public Architecture, Victorian Architecture Medal and Sustainable Architecture Award just to name a few.

Tours will be also conducted of the southern hemisphere’s largest kitchen hosted by MCEC’s Executive Chef Tony Panetta, offering insight into how the in-house team can cook for up to 10,000 visitors.

Visitors will also go behind the scenes and witness the Plenary Hall’s state-of-the-art gala seating technology transform this inspiring and highly flexible space.

Plenary Group Chief Operating Officer, Glenn Hay, said he was pleased that Melburnians will once again have the opportunity to get up close to one of Plenary’s most iconic, and Melbourne’s most successful public private partnership projects.

This is the second year MCEC has participated in Open House Melbourne, an annual event that provides the public with a free and rare opportunity to encounter a hidden wealth of buildings nestled around the city.
