First G:link trams arrive on the Gold Coast

GOLD COAST, QUEENSLAND – Two new light rail G:link trams for the $1 billion Gold Coast Light Rail have arrived on the Gold Coast from Germany.

Stage One of the Gold Coast Light Rail will travel a 13 kilometre dedicated route between the Gold Coast University Hospital and Broadbeach, stopping at 16 stations using a total 14 light rail trams.

The 43 metre long trams have the ability to deliver more than 300 people, every seven-and-a-half minutes to Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.

The new arrivals will now be tested on the system before passenger services commence in 2014. The remaining 12 trams are due to arrive in the coming months.

Plenary Group is part of the GoldLinQ Consortium selected by the Queensland Government to design, build, finance, operate and maintain this light rail public transport system.
