Final phase of Disraeli Bridges Project completed

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA – Plenary Roads Winnipeg is pleased to announce the final phase of the Disraeli Bridges Project has been completed with the opening of the Active Transportation Bridge, a great milestone in the Project.

The Disraeli Bridges Project, one of the largest bridge projects in the history of Winnipeg, provided upgrades to approximately two kilometers of road, including the Disraeli overpass that spans the Canadian Pacific Railway mainline, and the four-lane Disraeli Bridge crossing the Red River.

The completion of the Active Transportation Bridge allows pedestrians and cyclists to safely cross the river on their own corridor and represents an alternative mode of transportation, providing a vital link to downtown and the City’s northeast.

The Project was the first deal procured as a DBFM by the City of Winnipeg. Under this model, Plenary Roads Winnipeg is responsible for financing, design, construction and maintenance during the term of the contract which, in this case, is 30 years.
